On Thursday, September 11, Sussex County Community College (SCCC) will hold a solemn 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at 9:00 a.m. on Connor Green, home to the college's dedicated 9/11 Memorial.

This event marks the 24th anniversary of the tragic attacks, providing an opportunity for the community to honor the lives lost and recognize the bravery of first responders.

Local firefighters, police officers, and EMS personnel will be in attendance to show their support.

The ceremony will commence with the Newton Choir performing the National Anthem, setting a respectful tone for the proceedings.

Following the performance, Herb Yardley, Chair of the SCCC Board of Trustees, will extend a warm welcome to all attendees.

Keynote speakers will reflect on the enduring impact of 9/11 and the importance of remembrance in our community.

A wreath-laying ceremony will be held, culminating in a moving rendition of Taps by Bugles Across America.

The event is open to the public and serves as a moment of unity and reflection for the Sparta and Newton communities.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to secure seating and participate fully in this meaningful tribute.
