Sparta High School's robotics program is celebrating a series of impressive performances in recent regional VEX Robotics competitions. On January 31, at Franklin High School in Somerset, NJ, varsity Team 5249X, known as "Excalibur," achieved a commendable 5–1 record in the qualifying rounds. Their outstanding performance earned them the prestigious Excellence Award and secured their position as the fourth-place qualifier. Their sister team, 5249S "Safety Hazard," also shone brightly by capturing the Design Award and placing fifth in skills, highlighting the depth of talent within Sparta's robotics program.
These achievements have paved the way for both teams to advance to the New Jersey State Championships, scheduled for March 14 at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) in Newark. This event will bring together the top VEX teams from across the state, offering a platform for Sparta's students to showcase their engineering prowess on a larger stage.
In preparation for the state championships, Sparta's robotics teams have additional opportunities to refine their strategies and enhance their robots' performance. Upcoming competitions include events at Millburn High School on February 22 and Seton Hall University on February 28. These tournaments serve as crucial platforms for the teams to test and improve their designs under competitive conditions.
The Sparta community is encouraged to support these young innovators as they continue to excel in the field of robotics. Families and community members interested in following the teams' progress can consult the official VEX events listings and NJIT's event calendar for schedules and spectator information. Additionally, Sparta High School's website provides local updates and opportunities for community involvement. This is a prime opportunity for Sparta residents to rally behind their hometown teams as they advance in the competitive world of VEX Robotics. |
