Sparta High School Football Gears Up for Promising 2025 Season |
Experienced Players and New Talent Set the Stage for Success |
As the 2025–2026 season approaches, Sparta High School's varsity football team is poised for an exciting year. Head Coach Frank Marchiano expresses confidence in the team's potential, highlighting a roster rich with seasoned players and promising newcomers.
Leading the offense is quarterback Shane Hoover, a versatile three-sport athlete committed to Seton Hall for baseball. Hoover's dynamic play is expected to be a cornerstone of the Spartans' strategy. Joining him in the backfield is running back Brady Shagawat, whose agility and speed have caught the attention of college scouts. The receiving corps boasts talents like Christian Brevig and Anthony Settembre, with Brevig drawing interest from Ivy League institutions such as Columbia, Princeton, and UPenn. Tight end Stone Herbison adds depth to the offensive lineup.
The offensive line is fortified by veterans Seth Gary, Sebastian Chiong, and Tony Dimogerodakis, providing a solid foundation for both passing and rushing plays. New additions like Jace Stiansen, Christopher Bomensatt, and Le Shem Little are expected to make significant contributions, bringing fresh energy to the team.
While the defense features some less experienced players, Coach Marchiano remains optimistic. He emphasizes the team's rigorous summer training and preparation, believing it will translate into strong defensive performances.
The Spartans' season kicks off on Thursday, August 28, at 6:30 p.m., with an away game against Montville. Fans can look forward to the home opener on Friday, September 5, at Cassels Field, where Sparta will face Lakeland Regional. These early matchups will set the tone for what promises to be a compelling season for Sparta High School football. |
