Sparta is reminding residents age 65 and older that New Jersey’s new “Stay NJ” property tax relief program is gearing up to deliver real savings in 2026. Eligible homeowners will begin receiving quarterly benefit checks after mid‑February, turning what used to be a once‑a‑year headache into predictable help with rising costs. The program is aimed at seniors who want to stay in the homes and neighborhoods they love, even as property tax bills climb each year.

Under Stay NJ, qualifying homeowners 65+ with incomes up to a set limit can receive relief worth up to half of their property tax bill, coordinated with existing programs like ANCHOR and Senior Freeze. Instead of juggling multiple forms, there is now a single, combined application that covers all three programs, simplifying the process for busy adults and their caregivers. Sparta’s website links residents directly to state resources so they can check eligibility, gather documents, and get ready to apply before upcoming deadlines.

For many Sparta families, this is the moment to sit down with parents, in‑laws, or older neighbors and make sure they do not miss out on money that can help them age in place.
