The article discusses the Sparta Township Council's approval of the language for a ballot question on allowing recreational cannabis businesses in the town. The council faced much discussion and debate before ultimately voting to move forward with the ballot question. The approved language will ask voters whether they support the sale of recreational cannabis within Sparta for consumers aged 21 and older. Several council members expressed concerns about the potential impact on the community and whether the revenue from cannabis sales would be enough to offset any negative effects. The council emphasized the importance of letting the residents decide on this issue through a ballot question. |

The Junior Woman's Club of Sparta's Safety Village is returning for its 34th year to educate local children on important safety topics. The program will run for two weeks in July and cover topics such as fire safety, water safety, stranger danger, and more. The village includes a mock town with streets, buildings, and even a functioning traffic light to simulate real-life scenarios for the children to learn from. Each day focuses on a different safety topic, and the children will participate in interactive activities and presentations to reinforce the lessons.
