Sparta seniors are urged to prepare for New Jersey’s new “Stay NJ” property tax relief program, launching significant benefits by 2026.

Residents aged 65+ who qualify will soon receive quarterly checks beginning after mid-February, offering more predictable tax relief as costs rise.

The program allows eligible homeowners to receive up to half off their annual property taxes, with incentives designed to help seniors remain in their beloved homes and neighborhoods.

Instead of navigating multiple tax relief forms, applicants will use one unified application that includes Stay NJ, ANCHOR, and Senior Freeze, creating a smoother process for both seniors and their caregivers.

Sparta’s website now offers direct tools to check eligibility, gather documents, and meet deadlines—making it the right time for families to ensure older relatives don’t miss this vital financial lifeline.

Sparta families are gearing up for the 2026–27 school year as the district begins kindergarten registration and opens its preschool lottery.

Children turning 5 on or before October 1, 2026, may register for kindergarten, while preschool accepts local 3- and 4-year-olds according to specific age cutoffs and available lottery slots.

Registration is open from mid-January through mid-February, allowing parents and other caregivers several weeks to submit all documentation, including proof of residency and health records.

All applicants must be residents of Sparta Township.

The district recommends early registration to reduce last-minute worries and ensure every eligible child gets a spot.

Sparta High School is also preparing incoming freshmen and their families with an Eighth Grade Parent/Student Night, covering courses, clubs, and ninth-grade expectations.
