Here's one that might surprise you:
Next time you're grabbing a burger at Krogh's, know you're sitting in the very first commercial building ever built in White Deer Plaza. It went up in 1927, the same year Lake Mohawk itself opened, but it didn't start out as a brewpub at all.
Back then it was the Tea Room and Gift Shoppe, a cozy stop for the earliest Lake Mohawk visitors browsing the new plaza. It passed through a few owners before Frede Krogh bought it in 1937 and put his name on the place for good.
It took until 1998 for Krogh's to become one of the first brewpubs in the state, and the log cabin dining room you sit in today still carries that century of history in its walls. |
