Sparta Township Council June 10 Meeting Canceled |
The Sparta Township Council unanimously approved the first reading of an ordinance that would allow for a ballot question about the sale of cannabis in the town. The council members agreed that residents should have the opportunity to weigh in on the issue. If the ordinance passes on second reading, the ballot question would ask residents whether they support or oppose the sale of cannabis in the town. This decision comes in response to the recent state law that legalized adult-use cannabis in New Jersey. Sparta High School recently held an academic awards ceremony to honor underclassmen for their achievements in the classroom. Students in grades 9 through 11 were recognized for their outstanding performance in a variety of subjects, including English, math, science, history, and world languages. A total of 89 awards were presented to students who excelled in their coursework during the school year. The ceremony also recognized students who achieved high honor roll status for earning a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Additionally, the event celebrated students who received the President's Award for Educational Excellence, an honor bestowed upon those who demonstrate academic excellence and commitment to their education.
