Sparta Township has secured a $400,000 federal grant to enhance the White Deer Plaza Pump Station, a crucial facility for local wastewater management.

With support from Rep. Tom Kean Jr. and an additional $100,000 in township funds, the project’s total investment reaches $500,000.

Upgrades will introduce new pumps, advanced controls, and modernized electrical systems, targeting greater efficiency and reliability.

The improvements are set to optimize wastewater flow, cut energy costs, and strengthen water quality for the region’s 19,600 residents.

Sparta officials, including Township Manager Jim Zepp, call this a vital investment that will help safeguard both public health and the community’s environmental safety.

The initiative aligns with Sparta’s expanding focus on infrastructure, which includes the Sparta Downtown Streetscape & Waterline Project and various grant-supported upgrades.

The pump station project is expected to be completed within a year, representing another strong step in Sparta’s commitment to local resilience and quality of life.
